a. Note:   John Olmsted settled in what is now Somerset, Niagara Co., NY, presumably between 1810 and 1820. He is listed in the 1820 U.S. Census in the town of Hartland part of which became Somerset by 1830, and he is listed as a farmer there in each census through 1850 when (at age 68) his real property was valued at $1,250 and his children has all left home. His wife Flora was 50 in 1850. His younger children were likely born in Hartland/Somerset, although the older children could have been born before
 he settled there.
b. Note:   ce850 US Census 1850, Somerset, Niagara Co., NY, gives age as 68, birth MA.
c. Note:   HKO12 Henry King Olmsted, "Genealogy of the Olmsted Family in America," (A.T. de la More, Ltd., New York, 1912). He was living in Somerset in 1850 and it is
 likely that he died there two years later if his death date is correct.
d. Note:   IGI92 International Genealogical Index 1992 (film 1396130) gives place; HKO12 gives year only. Since Clara was living in Hillsdale, NY, and John Olmsted was
 living in Green River, NY, in 1800, this is clearly incorrect [RPK 11/02].
