Continued: Only two reasons the 1900 census could be the wrong person: the name is spelled Matthews (instead of Matthys), the date of immigration is way off (but it's so different each census that no good guess can be made which one is closer), and the place of origin is Holland instead of Belgium (but both places speak the Dutch language). Other than that, there are too many coincidences for them not to be the same person. His wife has the same name and is from the same place (Ireland), he has the same profession, the marriage year is the same, etc. His parents are from Belgium.
