Notes
a. Note:   CONDENSED OBITUARY In Beaufort, North Carolina, February 23 1881, Mr. William Felton died, aged 52 years. He was born in Perquimans County, Aug 1829. He removed to Carterey County in 1870. His disease was one of great pain and almost constant suffering; he was subject to attacks of vertigo, and for some months confined most of the time to bed. Mr. Felton has for more than 30 years been a consistant and active member of the Baptist Church, making himself useful both by exhortation and example. He was ready for the hour of departure and died in full assurance of an eternal life of happiness.
William Felton was educated at Wake Forrest College, and at close of the war of 1860-1865, like many other southern planters who had lost everything, decided to migrate and start a new life elswhere. He and his family went to Carteret County in 1870. His father had preceded him there several years earlier, having bought 1000 acres of land in the area of North River.
