Note: of Bess Alethia Gready. Aunt Nettie had a lovely, serene face and disposition. She was soft spoken and rarely raised her voice. Uncle Arthur served some time in the U.S. Navy with rank of Lieutenant. Two girls were born from this marriage, namely, Elizabeth Alethia and Leonie Adair Moisson. Arthur Lynn Moisson was a joval person and hospitable to his relatives. He was very proud of his daughters. My mother, Bessie Emmett Adair was only ten years older than Elizabeth, twelve years older than Leonie, and they had a close relarionship. During WWII, Uncle Arthur invented a rubber expansion joint to be used on Naval ships. These were sold to the U.S. Government during the time of war crisis, and he became quite wealthy. Uncle Arthur enjoyed the visting of friends. A special well known visitor was "Connie Mack" (Cornelius McGillicuddy), owner and manager of the Philadelphia Athletics. Although the family began in Charleston, it moved to Philadelphia at an early date. Elizabrth chose a shorter form of her name and became Bettie.
