a. Note:   the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. His father was a member of the Nazareth Presbyterian Church in Reidville, South Carolinsa. He was born in South Carolina and moved to Dickson County with his parents. Goodspeed's History of Tennessee says he was one of 35 mem from Dickson County to serve in the War of 1812. He married Dorcas McAdoo, born in North Carolina. Her mother was a Houston, a relative of Sam Houston. They were parents of five children. However only four survived until adulthood.
  Thomas was age 75 years, 5 months and 6 days when he died.
