 "The Daily Republican," (Shelbyville, Shelby Co., IN) March 21, 1888 (page 2) "WALDRON--Uncle Elzy Rucker, an old and respected citizen and pioneer of Shelby county, died at his home east of this place on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The remains will be interred at the Vienna cemetery on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. H. R. Mingers funeral director."

 "The Daily Republican," (Shelbyville, Shelby Co., IN) March 21, 1888 (page 4) "Our Waldron correspondent reports the death of Mr. Elzy Rucker, one of the best known citizens of Liberty township. The news comes unexpectedly as we had not heard of his being sick. Nearly everybody in the county knew 'Uncle Elzy' and everybody liked him. He was a true friend, a genial companion and an excellent citizen. He belonged to the sturdy class of pioneers who did so much to make Shelby county the prosperous section that it is. General regret will be felt at the news of his death."

 "The Shelby Democrat," (Shelbyville, Shelby Co., IN) March 29, 1888 (page 3) "Elzy Rucker was born in Kanawha county, Virginia, May 4, in the year 1820. He moved with his grandfather to Indiana in the year 1829. He had been a resident of Shelby county for near fifty years. He was married to Delia Ensminger March 2nd, 1848. He departed this life March 20th, 1888, age sixty-seven years, ten months and sixteen days. He was a man of more than ordinary talents, who was often sought after by his many friends for advice and instruction on the side of morality, justice and mercy. He possessed a liberal and charitable disposition."
  "He was at the time of his death and had been for many years a devoted member of the M. E. church, although his afflictions were such that he had for several years denied himself the privilege of attending church."
  "His family, one by one, have been called away by death with the exception of one son, together with a large number of relatives and dear friends, is left to mourn their loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Morrow at the Vienna church March 22nd at 10:00 a.m."

 "Western Christian Advocate," (Indiana) April 11, 1888 "Elza Rucker was born in Kanawha Co., Virginia, May 4, 1820; died near Waldron, Shelby Co., Indiana, March 20, 1888. He moved with his grandfather to Indiana in 1829 and was a resident of Shelby County nearly fifty years. He married Delila Ensminger April 2, 1848. He was a devoted and useful member of the Methodist Church for many years. In his home life and in his business relations he exemplified the purity and power of God's grace. He was loved and respected by all."

  "Jasper N. Heck as Adminstrator of the Estate of Elzy Rucker deceased would represent and show to the Court that said Elzy Rucker departed this life intestate while a resident of Shelby County Indiana on the 20th day of March 1888."
  "That said Elzy Rucker left him surviving as his only heirs at law his son Julian A. Rucker and his grandson Earnest A. Green, the only child of Samantha J. Green, a deceased daughter of said Elzy Rucker deceased who departed this life before the death of the said Elzy Rucker."
  "That said Earnest A. Green is a minor under 21 years of age and that Arthur H. Green is his duly and legally appointed and qualified Guardian by appointment of this Court."
  "That said Elzy Rucker at the time of his death was the owner in fee simple of the forecoming described Real Estate in Shelby County, Indiana, to wit:"
  "Part of Section 16, Township 12, North of Range 8 East, Beginning at the North East corner of the North West quarter of the aforesaid Section Township and Range; running South 7 degrees, East 93 paces and 23 links: thence South, 83 degrees, West 6 paces 2 1/2 links: thence South 35 degrees, West 7 paces and 7 links, witness tree, a white walnut, eight inches through bearing South 62 1/2 degrees, West 2 paces and 7 links; thence South 83 Degrees, West 64 paces and 5 links to a line dividing said North West quarter North and South, witness tree, a coffee nut, 7 inches through, bearing South 15 degrees, West 29 links and a Buckeye 12 inches through, South 29 1/2 degrees East, 1 pole; thence North with said line 45 poles and 10 links; thence North 36 degrees, East 37 poles to the center of Conn's Creek, thence with the meanders of the creek North 19 degrees, East with the meanders of the road bearing around the grave yard to the aforesaid section line South of the place of beginning containing forty seven and 75/100 acres more or less."

That but two claims have as yet been filed against said Estate which have not yet been allowed which claims are for the sum of $672.62."
  "That claims against said Estate have come to the knowledge of this Administrator which have not been filed amounting to between $2700.00 and $2800.00."
  "That there are no liens or incumbrances (sic) upon said Real Estate to the knowledge of this Administrator."
  "And said Administrator shows that by reason of the premises, the personal Estate of said decedent will not be sufficient to pay the debts of said Estate, that there will be a deficiency in the probable amount of $2800.00."
  "That it will be necessary for this adminstrator ro sell a part of said decedent's Real Estate to pay said indebteness."
  "That it would be to the interest of said Estate to sell such an Amount of said Real Estate as will be necessary to pay said indebtedness at private sale for not less than the full appraised value thereof and upon such terms and after such value as the Court may direct, and he asks an order accordingly."
