He moved in 1806 to the 432 Morgen Grosse Zonshof in the District Rommerkirchen of Neuss, then in 1821 to Heppendorf and in 1822 on to the Castle Blessem bei Lechenich. He died at Castle Blessem; his wife was already dead in Nov. 6, 1817 at Eggershoven bei Rommerskirchen and is buried there. The Family Hons: The wife, Maria Anna Hons, was the daughter of Franz Josef Hons (born 12 May 1736 in Waldfeucht, Kreis Heinsberg, died 8 Jan 1798 in Haus Overbach, married with Anna Katherina Sieger in 1755 she being born 1731 in Weisweiler and dying 12 Sept 1811 in Haus Overbach). Katherina's parents werre Lambert Sieger (1699-1752) and Maria Mechtildis Ja nsen (1704-1781) of Burg Weisweiler. The married couple Hons resided first at Settericher Burg, then in Itteren-Meersenhoven and finally in Haus Overbach, which like Burg Weisweiler and Rittergut Bovenberg belonged to the Count von Hatzfeld. The Gut remained in the tenancy of of Hons-Opfergeld for two generations until 1866. The family Hons originates in Limburg probably in the area around Maastricht. Around 1650 at the Gute Wittefrauenhof in Chan (probably today's Scharn) lived a Hons whose first name is unknown. From him originates the Family Hons. His son, Joseph Hons, was halbwinner at Kraymuehler (now Kitscher Muehle) by Waldfeucht and he had 4 children. One, Thomas Hons, married Maria Margaretha Evertz of Settericher Burg, Kreis Juelich. This latter couple had 7 children of whom the oldest was Franz Joseph Hons. Thomas probably lived in Rothem bei Meersen in 1747, 1751-54 in Setterich. On 1 Mar 1752 he bought a house with about 12 bunder (old Netherlands measure equivalent to about 1 Hecktar) for about 12630 Guldens so he owned some property. In addition in 1757 he leased the Hauses Meersenhoven in Itteren where he lived until 1760. He died in Meersen on 10 July 1764. His widow lived with her son, Franz Joseph, in 1774 in Overbach and in 1777 with her son, Franz Theodor, a priest in Zevenaar where she probably also died.
