Notes
a. Note:   N199 In 1780, Sara Rehbold, age 15 was confirmed at St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Germantown (now Mt. Airy). Her father was listed as Jacob Rehbold.
Because St. Michaels Lutheran Church changed pastors every few years, the notation of her fathers name may be an error of a pastor unfamiliar with the exact date Jacob died and Saras mother became a widow (1760).
Just who her father might be remains a mystery, as baptismal records have yet to be located.
One clue might stem from a 1785 newspaper mudslinging match between Saras mother, her brother-in-law, Anthony Hubbard/Hubbert, and J. George Keen - a fellow starchmaker and near neighbor in Northern Liberties. In a public advertisement, Keen accuses the widow Rebold of having two bastard children by her stepson. Could the father of George and Sara Reybold actually be Jacob Rebold, Jr.?
Interestingly, around this same time Godfrey and Sara sold their property in Northern Liberties and relocated to Nicetown. Did the scandal cause them to move?
