  Death certificate information was from Minnie Neubauer.
  Marriage License for Berthold Pagel and Bertha Oldenburg lists Bulzick (Balzick) as his birthplace. A Bulzig is located on the Wittenberg/Juterbog Road, the village is SW of Berlin and NE of Leipzig. This would not be Pommern.

  A FamilySearch.org IGI record has a Bartold Friedrich Wilhelm Pagel born 29 July 1866 in Bredow, Pommern (Sankt Mattaeus church?). Father listed as Wilhelm and mother as Emilie Witte

  The 1885 Census for Hardin County Iowa lists Berthold Pagel as age 24, Laborer, born in Germany, alien taken out first papers; wife Bertha, age 22, keeping house; sone Frank, age 1 in 1884. (Eldora Section, dwelling 308 from the original bound book in the Recorders office, Hardin County Courthouse) 6 June 2001
  Year: 1900; Census Place: Grant, Hardin, Iowa; Roll: T623 435; Page: 8B; Enumeration District: 148. Lists Bertha, Frank, Clara, Lillie, Anna, Martha, Harry, Grace/Daisy, and Minnie. Nearby farms were Bruenemur, Hoelscher, Keller, Tuttle, Merrill, and Weichman.
  The 1920 Census for Minnesota (Roll 827 ED 4, Sheet 13, Line 70) lists a Bert Pagel living in West Concord Twp, Dodge County, Minnesota. This might be out Bert, except a wife (Bertha) is also listed. Bertha died in 1912. The age is correct for our Bert, Bertha is off by 5 years, Emil (spelt Amil) is correct as is Bert Jr. A son Carl is also listed, one year older than Bert. This may not be our Bert, but weird coincidence. Bert is listed as a farmer, renting.
