Note: Lowell was the county sheriff for Hardin County for many years. The sheriff lived at the jail where the prisoners were held. One time when he and Helen were gone his Mother, Minnie, and Lillie Ruhnke, her sister, stayed at the jail and cooked the meals for the prisoners.The trays were placed in a pass through and they never saw the men being held. They provided meals for five men only to find out later there were only four in the jail.
