Note:   According to Harold Painter, The Painter Family (1975), p. 35, Mary was born in 1816. Her headstone has the same year of birth. Her obit. in the Albion Democrat, Albion, Indiana, is specific: "born in Belmont County, Ohio, September 24, 1816; and died...October 21, 1899, aged 83 years and 26 days." This date, however, is less than 5 months before the reliably reported date of birth of her younger sister Lydia, born 3 Feb 1817. In the 1850 through 1880 censuses, Mary's calculated year of birth is either 1814 or 1815, and, according a Noble Co., Indiana, death index, Mary died at the age of 85--thus born in 1814. (Harold Painter reported also that Elizabeth Painter was born between her sisters Mary and Lydia. With Mary born in Sep 1814 and Lydia in Feb 1817, Elizabeth may have been born between mid-1815 and mid-1816.) Lastly, Mary's place of birth from her obit.: Belmont County. Her father entered 160 acres in Richland County, Ohio, in 1814; before that the Painter family was in Belmont County and/or Harrison County, Ohio. Had Mary been born in 1816, she would have been born on the Painter family farm in Richland County.

Note:   "Huntsman Mary was born in Belmont County, Ohio, September 24, 1816; and died of apoplexy at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Rachel Holcomb, October 21, 1899, aged 83 years and 26 days. She was the wife of Jeremiah Huntsman who died March 12, 1873, aged 63 years, 11 months and 26 days. They moved to Noble County in 1846 [sic]. They had 7 girls and 3 boys, Lydia Ann, George, Rachel, Mary Jane, Arminda, Riley, Samantha Oretta, Almeda and Rhoda Ellen. Her husband, one son and 2 daughters preceded her in death.
