1. Title:   Painter, Harold, The Painter Family
Note:   Elizabeth is not found in any original document, and is reported only by Harold Painter in The Painter Family (1975), p. 35, who gives this account: "J1G9 Elizabeth Painter, accidently killed by her half-brother, J1G2 (living in 1830 but not in 1840)." On the same page he states: "My great-uncle, Sherman M. Painter, furnished most of this information some 40 years ago." Sherman Marquis Painter (1857-1938), a son of Hamilton Painter (1810-1897), was born, and worked for most of his life, on or near the Painter family farm in Perry Township, Richland County; he probably heard of this from his father and other relations. Harold Painter's index number "J1G2" indicates Washington Painter (p. 24), son of John Painter and his first wife, but Washington is not known to have survived to adulthood. Only two sons from the first marriage are known to have migrated to Ohio-Jacob and Andrew-and Andrew lived on or near Painter family farm until at least 1836. This accident may have caused Andrew to move by 1840 to Clark County, Ohio. Harold Painter indicated that Elizabeth was born between her sisters Mary and Lydia. With sister Mary born Sep 1814, and Lydia born Feb 1817, Elizabeth may have been born from mid-1815 to mid-1816.
