Note:   "Hamilton Painter was born in Frederick County, Va., Nov. 24, 1810 and died March 17, 1897. Mr. Painter came with his parents to Richland County when he was three years old. His parents settled on section 36 in Perry Township, where he grew up and resided there until his death. He was a member of the M. E. [Methodist Episcopal] Church for last 60 years. His funeral took place Friday [19 March] at 10 a.m. at his late residence conducted by the Rev. Noling, of Butler."
