Note: Will of EDWARD PALLASER of Caldbergh dd 24.6.1612. Inventory (on the day of his death) 27.6.1612 pr 23.9.1612 (West Yorkshire, England Archive, Sheepscar, Leeds) (TJS) Memorandum that upon the Foure and Twentie day of June in the yere of the Reagne of our soveregne lord James by the grace of god kinge of England Scotland France and Ireland defender of the Fayth that ys to say of England France and Ireland the Tenthe and of Scotland Fortie Fyve Edward Pallaser of CAULDBERGH in COVERDELL in the countie of YORKE husbandman sycke in body notwithstanding of perfect memory dyd utter these words in effect flowinge concerning his Testament and last Will First and principallie he did geve and comyt his soule unto the tuycion of almyghtie god hopinge by the precious death and bloudshedinge of Christ Jesus his redimer his soule should be saved and his body to be buryed within the Church yeard at COVERHAME Item he dyd say that his wife Mary should have the tuycion of his two children Thomas and Margaret duringe there nonage Item he dyd say that his said Wyfe Mary should occupie and Injoye all his messuages and Tenements in WEST SCRAFTON and CAULDBERGE with their appurtenances for and duringe the nonage of his said two Children so as they myght be educated and brought upp upon the same and not to susteyne any wronge but that they myght have so much as to theme should be due by vertue of his words herein mentioned Conteynynge his Testament and last will And he dyd say that yf his said wyfe Mary dyd mary and take an husband that such a Course should be taken for his said Children as should be thought most mete to his Frends and supervysours hereafter mentioned for the good of Children For he said that yf yt should appere that his said Children should susteane wronge by the maryage of his said wyfe that then yt was his will and mynd that his said Children Thomas and Margaret should possese and Injoye all his said Tenements with the Appurtenances at WEST SCRAFTON and COULDBERGE untill the said Thomas Pallaser his said son should accomplish the age of xxj yeres And when his said son should accomplish the age of xxj yeres then yt was his will and mynd that his said son THOMAS should pay or cause to be paid unto his said daughter Margaret xiii li vjs viiid towards her preferment in her marriage and in default of payment thereof It was his will and mynd that the said tenements at WEST SCRAFTON and CAULDBERGH should redemme and Come Unto the benefyt of the said Margaret his said daughter untill the said some of xiii li vjs viijd be mead forthe of the said Tenements at the appointment of his Frends and Neighbours in there dyscressions Item yt was his will and mynd that after the said some of xiii li vjs viijd be paid as aforesaid That all his said Tenements at WEST SCRAFTON and CAULDBERGE aforesaid and all his
