(Like all descendants of this branch he worked the land. The documents provide an interesting detail: he was a tenant (owner) of a estate with the Arab toponym "de Rafal" (de "rahl," country house). Serafin Palliser died in Alayor and was buried on the 24th of April of 1588. He received the last rites. On the 18th day of the same month and year, before the parish priest and notary Antonio Xalpes, he designated his wife Margarita Pons and his brother Cristobal Palliser executors of his will. His wish was to be buried in the Palliser's grave in the parish church of Santa Eulalia, in the village of Alayor. He disposed that a mass to the Virgen of the Immaculate Conception be sung on the day of his burial. He arranged for the celebration of masses, known as of " San Amador" and of the "Sirvienta," in addtion to the three masses on Christmas Day. He ordered torches for his funeral at a cost of five pounds. He disposed that four paupers carry his body, and that two alms be given to each of them. He ordered that alms be given to the collection boxes of the brotherhoods of Corpus Christi, of Nuestra Seora de la Rosa, of the Animas de Purgatorio, and of the Santuario de Nuestra Senora de El Toro. These interesting notes reveal the piety of the deceased and the economic prosperity of this family. (Menorca Archives: Palliser History)
