Notes
a. Note:   1880 Census Pennsylvania, Luzerne Co., Wilkes Barre Ward 123. Henry is living with is brother John and family. He is 22 years old and his occupation is a bartender. John is a hotel keeper. Birth place is listed as Wurttemberg, Germany.
A directory for Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania (1889 - 1892) available on Ancestry.com, notes that Henry was living on 13 Oregon Street, near to sister-in-law Mary Mailander, and was a salesman hawker in 1889, 1891, and 1892. Daughter's Mary and Lena also listed in this directory as being a hotelier and milliner, respectively.
1900 Census Pennsylvania, Luzerne Co., Wilkes Barre Ward 15. Henry is listed with his wife and children. Image is difficult to read. Wife is Emma. Married 18 years. Appears that she gave birth to 6 children and 4 are alive (same thing said in 1910 census). Difficult to tell his occupation, might be a shop keeper. Says he came to America in 1867, been in the US 33 years.
1910 Census Pennsylvania, Luzerne Co., Wilkes Barre Ward 15. Henry is listed with his wife and children. He is 52 years old, occupation is Foremace (?), at junkyard. Says he came to the America in 1868 and he is naturalized. Emma is 47 years old. Lena age 26 works in grocery store as clerk; Henry Jr. age 24 works as an assembler in automotive; Mamie (Mary) age 22 works as a weaver in a silk mill; and Joseph age 19 works as a grocery store clerk.
Do not see Henry or Emma listed in 1920 census index. Also can not find children either, especially sons.
1930 Census Pennsylvania, Luzerne Co., Wilkes Barre Ward 15. Henry J. (age 72) and Emma (age 66), and daughter Mary K. (age 42) . First time middle initial "J" is used for Henry. This possible name could be Jacob, based upon possible immigration record noted under father's notes. He was first married at the age of 23, she was 18 years old. Census notes he immigrated in 1880, which contradicts earlier census information. Maybe he has forgotten year, or it is the year of naturalization. He is an iron worker. Daughter Mary is not working. They still live on Oregon Street.
