a. Note:   ucah, KY, p. 111, "John W. Grissom, Sr., came ot Christian County, KY with his wife Nancy Chapman Grissom in 1807 and the family settled on Bucks Fork of Pond River a short distance north of Bluff Springs community. (Later site of Johnsons Mill). After a few years of farmer the family moved to Indiana. John died while in service in the war of 1812. His wife Nancy re-married and moved to Tennessee; at least, some of the children moved back to the Christian-Todd-Muhlenberg county area. Their children: John W. Grissom Jr., Jefferson Grissom, William Grissom, Alfred Grissom, Elvira Grissom and Caroline Grissom."
