Note: Jared Harrison was brother-in-law to Isaac Newton, who was married to Jerusha Wylie, so Jared's wife was either a Newton or a Wylie, probably a Newton. George Holcomb was married to Lucinda Wylie, a sister of Jerusha. June 1824 5 Friday Today Mr. Jared HARRISON came and made Mother a pair of Morocco shoes and she paid him six pounds of pork for his work and he made my Charlotte a pair of calf skin shoes and my wife paid him four pounds of pork for his work. 8 Monday today I hoed potatoes... today Wm. changed works with Jared HARRISON, he made two pair of calf skin shoes for Wm. and daughter Lucretia and helped Wm. mend the one horse harness and Samuel worked to Ephraim Pierce's for said HARRISON and at night Wm. took the wagon and carried said HARRISON to Lebanon and gave him one quart of cider brandy for extra changing works. December 1824 29 Wednesday I took the double wagon and horses and went over to farm. Jared HARRISON came along and I went and carried him to Hancock Village and for the same he stands indebted and agrees to come and mend and tap boots.. August 1825 29 This evening AVERY HARRISON went with me to hold the horse and I paid him 12 cts for going with me November 1827 3 Saturday on this morning I reckoned with Jared HARRISON, I found myself indebted to him 37 1/2 cts for making myself a pair of boxes and my wife a pair of boots, his price was fifty cents each pair, he gave me credit 37 1/2 cts on an old debt and twenty-five cents for brandy more than his rations and this squares our account for making the boots. March 1829 13 Friday we chopped wood to the door, today Jared HARRISON mended shoes for me to the amount of 12 1/2 cts. I paid in cash and gave brandy. 21 Saturday today Jared HARRISON hired me to go to Pittsfield with my horse and cutter and carry Garret Hirse wife near the Methodist meeting house to the west part of the town, said HARRISON calls it 75 cts in shoemaking to make Almyra Butin a pair and my daughter Charlotte a pair. October 1829 29 widow HARRISON helped... March 1830 25 Called to Noah HARRISON's and paid 8 cts per pound for 14 1/4 pounds of tallow. November 1830 23 Called to Mr. Abraham HARRISON's and paid 87 cts...(refers to tallow) June 1832 14 Thursday on this morning Sister NEWTON died about four oclock after 15 years sickness and lame and blind and at last with the dropsy, today I tended to chores and I had the widow Wylie's wagon and rode to Lebanon near Gilbert's tavern to notify Mrs. HARRISON of the death of sister Jerusha NEWTON, (note: this is Jerusha WYLIE, wife of Isaac Newton) today I went twice to brother I. NEWTON's and I drove and fetched my cows on to and from my said Rogers farm... January 1839 14 Monday I drew wood from my swamp and Daniel HARRISON chopped for me and I paid him fifty cts for his work...on this evening I walked up to Randolph HARRISON's. 15 Tuesday ...on this evening I and my wife walked up to Randolph HARRISON's and spent the evening, I called there on account to settle with Moss Kent Hadsell but he did not settle with me, today Daniel HARRISON threshes my oats for...one bushel out of twelve and I board him. 21 Monday this morning I walked up to Randolph HARRISON's and reckoned with Moss Kent Hadsell and he agreed to secure the debt before he returned to west.... February 1839 8 Friday this forenoon I drew the last of hay from Hazard MOREY's that I mow on shares...and today at about eleven oclock Mr. Jared HARRISON died at his son Randolph's at the house called the Alonzo Chapman house, he died with the lung complaint of a week sickness, I called at the house in a short time after he died and assisted some in laying him out. 10 Sunday I took my sleigh and carried my wife and two oldest daughters and son John and Miss Celestia Eldridge to the funeral of Jared HARRISON at the Seventh Day meeting house, Elder Jones preached. July 1839 29 Tonight I took my wagon and fetched Hiram NEWTON from Randolph HARRISON's January 1840 27 Monday I tended to my chores and went up to Randolph HARRISON's and got the wood saw that I had bargained for of Daniel HARRISON as he passed by my house today... June 1840 14 Visited cousin Randolph HARRISON...(George Holcomb is 1st cousin once removed of Mary P. Eggleston, who is granddaughter of Abigail Holcomb & Elisha Eggleston.
