YOUNG The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Young took place at the Presbyterian church last Sabbath at 2:30 under the direction of Pastor Lee, and Funeral Director Hodson; interment immediately after the service in the Newberg cemetery. Sarah M. Olds was born near Springfield, Illinois, March 25, 1838. Moved to Iowa with her parents, where she was married at the age of 17 to Alvin Gray. To this union seven children were born, five of whom are still living. Three years after the death of Mr. Gray she was married to Charles Young. Of the two children born, Miss Laura still survives, her sister having died in Newberg 22 years ago. Soon after Mrs. Young's first marriage, they moved to Minnesota, where all her family were born. She later went to South Dakota, whence she came to Newberg in 1898, living here continuously since that time. Of a large family only two sisters survive her. In South Dakota she became a member of the Presbyterian church continuing her connection with the denomination during the remainder of her life. Mrs. Young was an earnest and thoughtful woman of strong convictions and much energy, devoted to her family and friends and faithful in all the affairs of life. She will be much missed by many, yet in the wondrous hope of that immortality that her Savior came to bestow.
