(illegible) B. Leachman, Springfield, was the informant for his death certificate. Son of Harrison and Ellen M. (Childs) Leachman. Married Suanna Davidson Brown. One child - Beverly Brown Leachman. MG Leachman received a deed to 200 acres of bluegrass land from his father-in-law, Stephen Brown. "Uncle Mit" was a very successful farmer and horseman. The deed to the farm dates back to the time when Issac Shelby was Governor of KY. The farm was known as the Coulter Farm in 1969. As a young man Uncle Mit joined a wagon train with others from Kentucky and departed for the CA gold rush of 1849. They suffered many hardships and fought Indians but finally arrived in CA south of San Francisco. Instead of searching for gold, M.G. Leachman and a Mr. Riperton went into the dairy business in Oakland, CA. MG Leachman sold out to Riperton after a few years and returned to KY via a trip around the "Horn". Baptist by faith, a staunch Democrat who served in the KY legislature and also held county offices in Washington County, KY. His wife's father, Stephen Brown, donated the lands for the Pleasant Grove Cemetery and the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, of which Suanna Brown Leachman was a member. Stephen Brown's picture hangs on the rear wall of the church.
