M. Smith, Dec 1958 H. Meyer (Bully) Smith, 77, former mayor and merchant in Honey Grove, died at his home at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1958, following an illness of three years. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday Dec. 5 in the Main Street Presbyterian church. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery with Cooper Funeral Home directing. The survivors are his wife, Mrs. Vera Fielding Smith, of the home address; a daughter, Mrs. James Henderson, and three grandchildren, all of Sherman. Mr. Smith, the son of the late Albert and Mamie Meyer Smith, was born in Honey Grove August 18, 1881. His pioneer grandparents settled in Honey Grove August 18, 1846 and helped found the first Presbyterian church in the county. He was an elder in the Main Street Presbyterian church, a 32 Degree Mason and at one time was owner and operator of a hardware store in Honey Grove. He also served as manager of McKinney Production Co. office in Bonham for a number of years. He served as mayor one term.
