a. Note:   Note: Will of Maggie Staats p. 558-9 In the name of the Benevolent father all: I Maggie S. Staats, of the county of Noble and State of Ohio, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form that is to say: Item 1st It is my will and I also order and direct that my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out my estate in the manner herein provided. Item 2nd I give and devise unto my son Wilbur A. Staats the farm on Barnes Ridge known as the Floyd farm containing 40 acres, more or less, he to have the same in feesimple, subject to the following condition My said son is to pay one fourth (1/4) of my debts and funeral expenses, and is also to pay my daughter Madge M. Staats the sum of $166.66 being one third of the sum of $500 hereinafter bequeathed by me to my said daughter Madge, and payments herein made a lieu on said real estate Item 3 I give and bequeathe unto my daughter Madge M. Staats such of my household goods as she may select for her use: I also bequeath her $500 out of the real estate, one third of said sum to be paid by each of my children Wilbur A. Staats, Violet S. Reed, and Lizzie S. Cleary .Item 4 I give and devise unto my daughters Violet S. Reed, Madge M. Staats, and Lizzie S. Cleary the homestead in which I now live, containing 30 acres more or less, in feesimple, the shares of my daughters Violet and Lizzie therein being subject to the payment by each of them one third of the sum of $500 bequeathed to my daugher Madge M. Staats in item 3 of this my will: also this devise is subject to the payment by each of my three daughters of one fourth (1/4) of my just debts and funeral expenses. And the above payments are made a charge upon said real estate. Item 5 I give and bequeath the remainder of my personal property to my four children Wilbur A. Staats, Violet S. Reed, Madge M. Staats, and Lizzie S. Cleary share and share alike Item 6 It is my will I so order and direct that my daughter Madge M. Staats receive the rental from the Floyd farm and the rents, profits, and products of the homestead for the period of one year after my decease, and that she may have the right to live in the homestead for one year rent free, if she so desire. Item 7 I hereby appoint Violet S. Reed and Wilbur A. Staats joint executors of of this my will, giving them full power to do and perform all things necessary to carry out the provisions of this my said will, and ask that they may serve without bond or compensation. I hereby revoke all former wills by me made. In testimony whereo I have hereunto set my hand, acknowledging the above as my last will and testament, this 1st day of February A.D. 1916 Witnessed by Roscoe Philpot and L.B. Frazier W. A. Staats, Summerfield, Ohio, was the informant for her death certificate.
