Mr. Danford is a prominent and successful farmer. Note: From: allerest@@speedy1.net A Golden Wedding The fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of Peter R. Danford and Jane Cleary was celebrated February 6th 1912 at the old Danford home four miles north of Summerfield. A large company of relatives and friends were invited to attend the golden wedding of this excellent couple. The aged and middle-aged and young were present and the social relations was superlative. It had the appearance of a large family reunion where joy refined and full reigned unconfined. It was a respectable company, and withal an intelligent one, and in a marked degree a moral and religious one. I am constrained to give the names of those present at this unusual company. Peter R. Danford and wife, Richard D. Cleary and wife, Uriah Cleary and wife, R. B. Taylor and wife, Joseph Cleary, J. Mackinder, Kate Danford, Lucinda Moore, Hiram Groves and wife, Frank groves and wife, James Stephens and wife, Samuel Bates and wife, Mr. J. A. McVicker and wife and Mary, Frank, Beulah Edward, Vera and Josie McVicker, Josie Clark, Catharine Miracle, H. C. Cleary Sarah Danford, Frank Miracle Roine Grover, wife and son Richard, Howard, Franklin, and Ansel. ( The next 3 lines are unreadable but I feel it is Dempsey Danford who resided with parents, Hiram Danford, of Houston OH and Lorenzo and/or John, sons which went to Kansas. I could not find them elsewhere in the list of guests and the following line mentions Kansas and honored parents.) from Coffee County, Kansas to be present at the golden wedding of the honored parents; and Rev. E. H. Taylor and Maria his wife and son left his pastoral charge near Indianapolis, Ind., to meet greet his brother-in-law and sister-in-law and mingle with relatives and friends of other days. A number of interesting incidents connected with this excellent couple are worthy of notice. A half century since they began life at the bottom near where they now reside, and by industry and economy have secured an excellent home, and an abundance for when they are too aged to labor. Again Peter R. Danford and Jane Cleary was united in marriage on the 6th day of February which was his twenty-second birthday. To this union four sons and one daughter were born and all of the children are living and doing well. The family have honored God and God has abundantly honored each one of them. As a proof of his care and economy Peter R. had on his feet a fine pair of boots, which were made for him by George Rhodes forty-seven years ago, and they are in an excellent state of preservation, and he still has his wedding coat. The presents were quite numerous and some of them quite valuable. The children presented the parents two fine Morris easy chairs, and tea set, salad dish, cake plate, stand cover, jabot, and a purse of twenty dollars in cash by friends who were present, also a breast pin, cuff buttons, ring, gold plated mantel clock, gold plated cup and saucer, cold meat for, two pairs wool socks, two pairs of wool hose, apron, three salad dishes, two handkerchiefs and bag, glass jelly dish, and cake plate. But the best present given was the ardent wish of the entire company that Peter R. and Jane may live many years to guide and direct their children in the path of life everlasting, and to be a blessing to all the friends in Glady Valley. Notes: A Josie McVicker is listed with the children of Mr. And Mrs. E. L. McVicker (Alice Danford, daughter of Peter and Jane). This was not one of their children. Edward McVicker had a sister named Josie but at this time I believe she was already married to Samuel Hasting. This Josie McVicker could be a niece. One of Edward's brothers I believe named a daughter Josie. Edward and Alice oldest daughter, Flo (Flode) is listed separately. death certificate for Peter R.
