a. Note:   Obiturary of Alexander Frank Gulick, from the Olathe Mirror, dated April 10, 1930: A. F. Gulick Dead A. F. Gulick, one of Olathe's old and highly respected citizens, died Tuesday at his home on Woodland Ave., following a prolonged period of poor health. Alexander Frank Gulick was born in Whigville, O., December 9, 1858. He moved to Kansas in 1882, locating near Sabetha on a farm. Later he moved to town, where he was engaged in business for many years. During the time he lived in Sabetha he was superintendent of the Methodist Sunday school and also served as mayor of that city. He had joined the church in early life and was always an active Christian. Following his residence in Sabetha, Mr. Gulick moved to Pleasant Hill, Mo., residing there for several years. In November, 1919, he came to Olathe and had lived here until his death. December 21, 1879, Mr. Gulick was married to Alice Cleary. She preceded him in death, passing away in 1922. To this union were born seven children, all living except Herbert, who died at the age of thirteen years. The children are: Mrs. J. A. Rice, Kingsville, Mo.; William Gulick, Olathe; Mrs. C. S. Bromell, Kansas City, Mo.; Edwin and Edna Gulick of Kansas City, Mo.; and Lester Gulick, Olathe. Two brothers and one sister also survive. They are W. B. Gulick, Columbus, Ohio; John L. Gulick, Whigville, Ohio, and Mrs D. C. Hancher, Ellwood, Pa. There are also 13 surviving grandchildren. March 8, 1925, Mr. Gulick was married to Anna Moore, who survives him. This fine woman has been his constant and faithful companion to the end. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church, Rev. E. M. Daniels officiating. Burial will be in the Olathe cemetery, the H. E. Julien Company in charge. The 1900 federal census for Nemaha Co., Kansas, Rock Creek Township, shows that Alfred W. Moore, age 45, occupation farmer, was a boarder at Alexander Gulick's dwelling.
