WILLIAM H. EDELEN IS DEAD Accident in August Finally Results in Death -- Buried Monday William Hall Edelen of Cleveland, this county, and well known in this vicinity, being a brother of Judge H. B. Edelen of Pleasant Hill, died suddenly at his home Saturday evening. Funeral services were held at the Cleveland Methodist Church Monday afternoon and burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, near Kansas City. Mr. Edelen was 65 years, 6 months and 17 day old. He is survived by the widow, Judge Edelen of Pleasant hill and one daughter, Gladys (Mrs. Omer Kircher), of Fairland, Okla. Early in August, Mr. Edelen was supervising the pulling out of some stumps on a farm he owned, about two miles from Cleveland. A cable broke and lashed backward, crushing one arm and inflicting a bad gash across the abdomen. He spent five weeks in a Kansas City hospital, and was very sick, blood poisoning having set up in the mangled arm, which had to be lanced 14 times. But finally he grew better and was taken home; a nurse, who was with him, was preparing to return since he seemed well on the road to recovery. But late Saturday afternoon, he suddenly complained of a severe pain in one side, and was dead in a moment. Death was due to a blood clot lodged in a principal artery. Born March 21, 1867 at Danville, Ky., a son of William Bruce and Evelyn McAfee Edelen, he came to Pleasant Hill with his family in 1872 as a baby. The Edelens lived in Pleasant Hill two months, then moved to what is now known as the old Morrison farm, southeast of town. They lived there two years and then moved to what became their home farm, a place two miles west of Belton. The parents lie buried in the cemetery at Belton. Mr. Edelen was married to Miss Lulu Inks September 20, 1895, and they had lived happily together since. He was a Cass County farmer throughout his adult life. His death leaves H. B. Edelen the only surviving one of eight children of this pioneer family. Mrs. Lulu Edelen, Cleveland, Missouri, was the informant for his death certificate.
b. Note:   Mrs Lulu Edelen, Cleveland, Missouri, was the informant for his death certificate.
