Notes
a. Note:   ur-Roots.com ]. ---------------------------------------------- What became of Henrietta I. Morrell? She is found in the 1870 census (8 June 1870) in the HH of Lewis Morrell and Marcia P. Morrell (1870 US Census, Portland Ward 7, Cumberland, ME. M593 roll 541 p. 270, HH 196/220.) She was age 11, born in NH. Note, since Lewis and Marcia P. Smith were married in June 1861 in Farmington, NH, this baby was clearly born before the marriage. We don’t know whose child she was. She is not listed in the 1880 census (08JUN1880) under that name in the HH of Lewis Morrell in Wells, York, ME (T9 roll 492 p. 649. ED 210. HH 469/489.) However, the very next HH is Warren Littlefield, age 27, b. ME a laborer. He is with Etta B. Littlefield, wife, age 21. b. NH. Father b. ME. Mother b. NH. (which fits with Henrietta, Lewis and Marcia P. Morrell.) Etta B. Littlefield, (d. 22 April 1889 age 30) is in Evergreen Cemetery Berwick in the Morrell plot, sharing a pedestal with Edward R. Morrell. Etta was not his wife. Who was she? Surely she had an important connection to the Morrell family. It looks like she was the sister (half sister) of Edward Morrell. [Note: full name listed on page 87 of Spencer's "Burial inscriptions of Berwick Maine" is Etta Bell Littlefield, which matches what remains on gravestone. Possibly this is short for HenriETTA IsaBELLe]. Indeed there is a marriage intention for Mr. Warren Littlefield and Etta B. Morrell both of Wells, 8 May 1880. (Births, Marriages Intentions 1844-1898 Town of Wells, p. 78. Cited in Vital Records of Wells 1619-1950 p. 497.) The marriage took place on 12 May 1880 but her name was spelled Miss Etta B. MERRELL. (Births, Marriages Intentions 1844-1898 Town of Wells p. 79; cited in Vital Records of Wells p. 476.) Her parents were not listed in the records at the Wells Town Hall. Could not find Henrietta or Etta Littlefield listed in death records for the Berwicks or for Wells. Warren Littlefield seems to be Uriah Warren Littlefield born 8 Feb 1852 to John P. (Prescott) Littlefield and ''Marther'' Wheeler Littlefield, his wife. (Births Deaths Marriage Intentions 1826-1864 Town of Wells p. 330.) If there is only one Warren Uriah Littlefield, he was married 3 times. First to Miss Phebe A. Brewer of Boothbay; intentions at Wells ME on 18 July 1874. (Births, Marriages Intentions 1844-1898 Town of Wells, 66.) The marriage took place 1 August 1874 in York; pastor was RH Kimball of the M. E. Church, York, Maine, and groom was listed as Warren Littlefield [NEHGR 122:3(July 1968), p. 232]. Two children identified: Josie C. Litlefield (b. 1875) and David M. Littlefield (b. 1877, with Littlefield grandparents John and Martha in 1880 census). No record of Phoebe's death found. Second, Etta B. Morrell/Merrill 12 May 1880. Third, Mrs. Georgieanne Butland of Wells on 10 June 1882 (This is the correct year in the original book.) To make matters strange, Warren Littlefield appears in the census with Georgia Ann in 1900 and they have been married 15 years. In 1910 they have been married 25 years and it is listed as a second marriage for each (although she was single in 1880 census for Saco). This Warren is listed as a carpenter in 1900 and 1910; his father John was also a carpenter. The Warren listed with Etta B. is listed in 1880 as a laborer, as was John and Martha's son in 1870. A child Jona was born in Warren Littlefield and Georgia his second wife on 22 May 1884 (Vital Records Wells p. 449.) Note 1900 census shows 0 of 1 children living. Note: The Wells Ogunquit Historical Society keeps detailed records on the Littlefield family, which was very prominent in Wells. Their notes indicated that Uriah Warren Littlefield did have the above 3 wives. Mr. U Warren Littlefield died 2 Jan 1928 in Wells age 74 years 10 months and 25 days. (Vital Records of Wells p. 637. Information from Town Reports not from detailed death records.) Unless there are two Warren Littlefields, it seems that Etta B. Morrell and Warren Littlefield must have divorced. The town did not keep divorce records. Her parents were not listed in the records at the Wells Town Hall. In 1880 Census [18JUN1880] Warren and Etta are listed as married within the census year and appear immediately after her parents household on the same page.
