Note: N1 John's parents are assumed from the information of his children, Jacob's will & Berks Co records. The sponsers at his baptism are Johannes Them and Christian ?. Another researcher names Peder & Lissa Riel as his parents. John's will was proved in court by Daniel Everitt and Isaac Clay. The executors are William Bard of Liberty & his son John Reel. Henry Lane and Daniel Everitt (blacksmith) were accepted as surities.Isaac Clay moved out of Ohio a few years after 1829. 1809: Database: OH Early Census Index, page 044 = John Reel 1810: Ohio Tax List: Weathersfield, Washington Co, Oh. page 028 = John Reel 1826: John had his land surveyed. This land was then divided into three properties. At his death the north property went to his son Peter the south property to his son John and the middle (the farm he lived on) was sold. This farm was sold to Frederick & Molly Plott. (Platt) see: Platt Family Tree 1826: Map shows his property owned by "John Reel, Simon"John & George Goist, his grandsons, are provived for in his will. He & also refers to children Margaret had by 1st husband Michael Greer/Geer. Green? 1846: John's estate was settled with the following heirs: George and John S. Goist; Margarett Taylor; Matty Reel; Mathew, Jacob, Catherine and Mary McKinnie; Jacob Kinglsley; Christina Fortney; John, Peter & Jacob Reel 1851: the final papers are filed settling John's estate. Info his children & grandchildren provide the to census , he came to Ohio after 1789 & before 1800.6 July 1812 John purchased his land from John & Rebecca Kinsman. Deed BK 428-429. (this is a land contract type of transaction, so this is the date he finally paid his 'mortage' off.) Kinsman is from New London, CT & moves to Kinsman, Ohio between 1801 & 1820. The tax list compiled by Reuben Harmon for 1801 does not have a Reel on the list. 1800: Weathersfield Tax census: ID# OHS1a2507152 1810: Weathersfield on : see word doc. 1820: Weathersfield Tax census: Peter is listed 1st. ID#OHS2a1034245, John ID#OHS2a1034233 & John Jun ID#OHS2a1034234 page 279a. [the web site I got this info from no longer exists & Trumbull Co does not recognize the numbers] 1820 census is unreadable in pertinant area. The First copy of his will the archivist put his birth date as1768 (so would die at 61) on the top of his will. but his Obit from the Western Reserve Chronicle page 16 says he died at age 73. He is NOT the John Riel of Northampton, Wm's Twp. PA. 1800 census only has one son. He is not the Johannes Reigel born 19June1756 in Berks Co. He is not the son of Casper He is not the son of Michael of Berks Co. Nicholas had Simon born 16 Oct 1736 in Tulpehocken Jefferson Twp Berks Co Pa (Riehl) Jacob born 1738, Conrad born 1741, Andrew born 1733, Johann George born 1745 in Lacaster he died 1795, he married Catherine Snapp in NC. 'A History of the Tidds of Ohio' by Howard H Tidd page 74. Peter Reel came to Weathersfield in 1801. The narrative indicates that he was a potter. By 1830 all pottery operations in Weathersfield had stopped as the clay had run out. This could either be John Simon OR his son Peter (age 11) OR his father, John Peter.
