a. Note:   According to the census reports and Scott County, Virginia Land, Tax and Court Records, John Rogers lived in Scott County, Virginia from the time of his marriage to his death sometime between 1880 and 1900. He was on the 1880 census but was not listed on the 1900 census. He owned land in the Big Poor Valley, which is in the Estillville District of Scott County.
  It is listed in the Land Deed that He sold his land to his youngest son J.C. "Jack" Rogers but died without making him a deed for the land. On December the 10th, 1909 a deed was made conveying the land to Jack. There was 284 acres of land listed in the deed.
  Jack was listed as a single man and that his sister Melinda lived with him to keep house until her death. Jack married Rhoda Fish when he was 72 years old. Rhoda lived on the land after Jack died until her death sometime around 1950.
  Jack died at an unknown date leaving as his heirs Joel W. Rogers and Ichabod Rogers and a sister Elizabeth. The land was sold at auction for $87,000 on the 4th of November 1985 and the money devided between their living heirs,{Joel, Ichabod and Elizabeth}
