Note: N210 His father moved to SD on the Rosebud Indian Res. when Leigh was about 6. Left home when he was 17 and joined the Merchant Marine and then the Coast Guard during WWI. Was a reporter for several newspapers in NY, including the World, the Telegraph and the Herald. He did some reporting on the Lindbergh Trial. He met Frencis Treadwell in 1925 and they married in Nov 1925. Their son, Warner Leigh Matteson Jr. was born on 20 Sept 1926 in manhatten and his name was soon changed to Robert Leigh Matteson. they divorced in 1928 and fought each other in court into the 30�s. His newspaper work suffered and he utlimately moved to southern California where he met and married Priscilla and had two children with her.
