Note: Gerald Halle (Bruder) which means brother in German, as he was called by his mother, father, sister and brother was a very quiet spoken and gentle man. He loved his three children, Roberta, Stanley and Warren "Cookie" as he was always called with all his heart. He was good to all the other members of the family and considered all the children of his sister and brother his own. When he took his children fishing to Chain Bridge in Va. which they did often in the summer months he would also take his niece, Rose, who he loved very much. She is the daughter of Emil, his brother. We would catch the fish and cook them on an open grate up on the rocks and roast potato's in the fire. These are the wonderful memories that Rose still speaks about to Roberta. Unfortunately he did not have a very long life span. He died at the age of 40, unable to see any of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren achieve all the wonders of their lives. He would be very proud to see their many accomplishments. He worked hard the few years that he lived to support his wife, Shirley and their three children. He never forgot a birthday or occasion for anyone. He even gave presents to the neighborhood friends of his children for Christmas. He built the first swimming pool in their neighborhood, and all the children in the neighborhood learned to swim in it. He loved dogs, he purchased St. Bernards for his children. The male being, Jack, and the female being Jill. They had a first litter of thirteen (13) pupplies, all died but one. They called that one "Butch". Unfortuantely the Saints used to go across the street to the farm on Ager Road in Hyattsville, where they lived and kill the chickens on the "Pareco" farm. They had to get rid of the dogs, this deeply saddened the three children as they truly loved their dogs. Roberta has always felt they were cheated by the death of their father at such a young age. She was with him at the time of his death and was only 14 years old. Stanley and Cookie were 10 and 11. Love you Daddy........ Roberta
