a. Note:   Robert Lee Armstrong Sr. POINT PLEASANT - Robert Lee Armstrong Sr., 69, of Point Pleasant, formerly of Fayetteville, died April 25, 1999, in Cleveland Clinic after a long illness. He was a retired crane operator from Ravenswood Aluminum Corp., a member of Bellemead United Methodist Church and United Steelworkers, a graduate of Fayetteville High School and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Surviving: wife, Merle Y. Hall Armstrong; sons, Robert Lee "Chip" Jr. of New Orleans, John Daniel of St. Albans; daughter, Laura Lane Cullen of Letart; brothers, Rodney Garton Armstrong of Akron, Ohio, James Randolph Armstrong of Jackson, Ohio; sister, Ruth Ann Gavin of Fort Myers, Fla.; seven grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Brian May and the Rev. Ray McClung officiating. Burial will be in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home. Born Jan. 14, 1930, at Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Rodney R. Armstrong, who died July 16, 1976, and Myrtle Ruth Garten Armstrong, who died March 19, 1994. Mr. Armstrong was a retired crane operator with Ravenswood Aluminum Corp., a member of Bellemcad United Methodist Church and the United Steel Workers union. He was a graduate of Fayetteville High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arverill Ray Armstrong. Survivors include his wife, Merle Y. Hall Armstrong; two sons, Robert Lee "Chip" Armstrong Jr. of New Orleans and John Daniel Armstrong of St. Albans; a daughter, Laura Lane Cullen of Letart; two brothers, Rodney Garton Armstrong of Akron, Ohio, and James Randolph Armstrong of Jackson, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Ann Gavin of Fort Myers, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
