a. Note:   Mary-Ellen Kenny was a school teacher. She migrated to Aust after her sister Lizzie and moved to Tville where she taught at St Patrick's College, the Strand. Her sister Mary Catherine (Kathleen) ran the Royal Hotel in West End and Mary-Ellen also ran it for a time before moving to the Aikenvale Arms. The family then moved to Hughenden where they ran the Australian Hotel. After James' death she moved the family to Torrens Creek where she ran another hotel. She then moved the family back to Townsville where she ran boarding houses before moving to Oonoonba where she ran the Post Office and shop. She went to live in Dunedin, New Zealand with her daughter Rosie and died there. Mary Ellen arrived in Australia on the "Duke of Sutherland" which left London 23.8.1901 via Suez Canal, Red Sea, Batavia, Thursday Island. She arrived in Townsville on 14.10.1901. She probably went to stay with John and Kathleen Lynch
