Related to General George Gordon Meade (or served under?) Wife's grandmother is a cousin of Daniel Webster. Nickname in Dedham, IA, was "Ping" Various family members spell his middle name as "Pingrey" or "Pingery", but is spelled "Pingree" on his marriage license. Used either Mead or Meade as first name - see pension files. Was in Eagle Point Twp., Ogle, IL during the 1880 census. See notes for Rhoda Strahl #27863. Did he move to Iowa because his eldest brother was there? See Coulson Strahl #5961 and Colbern/Golbert Strahl #7029. In the Carroll Sentinel (Carroll IA) of December 20, 1900, the new feed stable of M. P. Strahl is well patronized. His obituary was published in The Carroll Times, Carroll, IA, on March 22, 1923.
