a. Note:   n Taunton, and on the 9 Sep 1709 petition for the incorporation of Taunton. His name is on the 1736 valuation list for Bridgewater and on the 1738 petition for land in the west precint of Bridgewater.
 Plymouth Co deeds record "Abiah Whitman of Weymouth, for 10 pounds, deeding to John Daily of Taunton, land in north purchase in Bristol and in west part of 2nd lot of west shares, the south end therof abutting upon Bridgewater...on 10 June 1717." Also: "Ephraim Hayward of Bridgewater for 50 pounds deeded to John Daily of Taunton, land in north purchase...27 Sep 1725." On 1 June 1732, Joseph Carey of Bridgewater for 202 pounds sold land in Bridgewater to "John Daily of Easton," indicating that John Daily was living in Easton by that date. On 1 June 1739, Ephraim Hayward of Bridgewater for 20 pounds sold land to "John Daily of Easton." He is on the list of those paying the salary of the pastor at the North Parish Church in North Bridgewater.
 In 1713 he and others bought the saw mill on the green in Easton from
 Thomas Randall. At one time he was a licensed inn keeper. He held many offices in Easton, was town treasurer for 5 years, selectman 2 years, was on the committee to select a site for the church. His name is on the 5 Feb 1750/51 list of selectmen who called for the raising of a meeting-house. He lived just east of the brook near Stone-house. His will was probated 18 Dec 1753, leaving legacies to his ill wife, his two living sons John and Daniel, and his three daughters, listed as: Mehitable Dailey, Miriam Dailey, and Martha Randall. (Bristol Probate Records, vol. 13:559.) This lists land in Bridgewater owned by him, and states that part of his land was purchased from David Stone. He acquired large tracts of land during his life. County land records show transfers to him by Zachariah Whitman, Thomas Randall, Thomas Pratt, Jr., Richard William, and Philip Allen.
