a. Note:   Anton was born in Haselier, Lower Austria, Austria. He came to the U.S.A. in may 1882 on board the ship Saldera according to his naturalization papers. He came though Ellis Island in New York, he was 17 years old. He became a Citizen of the U.S.A. on December 6, 1921 at the age of 56. Anton settled on a farm located midway between Mondovi and Rock Falls in the township of Albany. He married Johanna (Hanna) Bauer and they had six children together. John, Frank, William, Edward, Mary, and Vincent. Hanna died of childbirth after the birth of Vincent in 1902 and was buried in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Lima Township. Anton was known as one of the 12 apostles of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for all his help in the origonization and development of that church in Rock Falls, WI. according to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church Bicentenial Book published in 1976. After the death of his wife, Anton married Mary Prendel (Brindle) and adopted her son Joseph Bauer. They had two children together, Julia and Anton (Jr.). The Radles worked long and hard clearing the land for farming on the homestead as many other families did in the early days. It was a gathering place for the neighbor children. They were well known for their farming and for their homebrew. Anton was one of the first to own a car in the Lima and Rock Falls area. In later years many family get-togethers were held at the homestead, especially at Thanksgiving time. Normally this included hunting trips which were successful and a number of old fashion card games. Also included in family affairs were dinners at Rock Falls, Lima and other Catholic parishes. Anton Radle lived on the homestead until his death at the age of 91 years old. Asphyxia, Aspiration of food and Arteriosclerosis Generalized are listed on the death certificate. He is buried in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Rock Falls, WI.
