Note: [ralphroberts.ged] [roberts.GED] [roberts.GED] Sir William Skipwith was 11th in line of descent and is reputed to have been a member of Gray's Inn and to have been the first reader there. There are many references to him as counsel in the year books from 1343 on. He was one of the Commissioners to carry out the proclamation remoderation of wages and prices in Lindsey on November 18, 1350. He was appointed one of the King's Sergeants in 1354, and on October 25, 1359, he was made one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas and was Knighted soon afterwards. He became chief.
