Per Ron Drew, author of 'Great Revivals and the Great Republics", the duel referred to above was with a friend, Capt. Snow, of the legislature from Burke County, GA. Snow was seriously but not mor tally injured. Daniel received a pistol ball in his cravat but was unhurt. Daniel subsequently refused to eat or drink and died of starvation.
