Sandwich Constable 5 June 1678. Name also recorded as Blacke. Inventory after death refered to land in Agawam and Namasket, whichland mayhave been part of his wife's dowry. "John Blacke alias Blackwell of Sandwich and Stephen Skiffe were defendants in a case brought by Capt. Matthew and Samuel Fuller Sr involving lands at Scauton Neck in Barnstable. Skiffe and Mr. John Smith complained to the Court, 2 March 1679-80, that John Blackwell while Constable of Sandwich in 1678 took money from them for the purpose of keeping "the publicke meeting house for the publicke worship of God, yet opened it for a secular meeting". !Birth: (Probably in Sandwich): Barnstable Co.
