Notes
a. Note:   Barbara was a very bright child. A "take charge" type, like my father's sister, Zadia. We lived in a rented house at 501 E. Paradise St. in Orrville at the time. A large field belonging to the Sanderson Cyclone Co. lay to the west of the house. My mother was so distraught at losing Barbara that she would roam across that field, sobbing and, maybe, berating God. That continued for many weeks. Then, Mom figured she would get even with God by "sinning". The worst thing she could think of doing was to smoke! So for hours she would sit on the commode, lock the bathroom door and saturate the bathroom with smoke. As a teen-ager (about 17), I did not grasp the gravity of a situation in which my mother almost fell over the brink. Mom was pulled back by Dr. Hayes Permar, pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, and his wife. Soon, she left the Methodist Church - and faithfully attended the C & M A - both in Orrville and later in Atlanta (on North Druid Hills Road, near the present Target store.)
Helen has some stories about how Barbara would plan their games - and direct the action in a creative way. Helen was very shy - and losing Barbara was like losing her lodestar.
Barbara would have been a world-shaker if she had survived.
