Note: When Eda was a young woman, she did almost the same thing that her mother did -to find a husband. William Edward Moore's first wife died, leaving him with two children, Fred and Zadia (see their notes). Eda visited with a neighbor, named Sellers, across the street. Eda found out from her about William Edward's situation - and she helped him care for the children. And they married in 1892, when she was about 25. Their home at 514 E. Gambier St. in Mt. Vernon was supposed to be about 170 years old when Uncle Louis wrote his letter in 1977. It's more than 190 years old in 1999. She lived in it for 68 years. Grandma Eda visited us in Elizabeth City a few times. I don't think Granddad ever came. On one of her Christmas visits, when I was about 8, I came running downstairs Christmas morning -and found NOTHING under the tree for me! They told me to go get dressed. Then they took me out behind the garage - and I found - a pony! More about that later. She and Helen Dutt were members of the First Baptist Church - and Eda was a charter member of the WCTU. She used to send Dad many clippings about the evils of alcohol. One of Emanuel Bach's granddaughters, Geraldine Platz, prepared a Bach family genealogy. Uncle Louis spotted one error, i. e., that Mary Baugh died in Orrville. Actually, she died in Mt. Vernon, but is buried in Orrville. Wonder if we could find Geraldine's info?? The date of her death is recorded as Feb. 22 in Fred Kittelberger's graph - but Feb. 23 in the Bach Family history.
