Note: William F. McHaffie, b. 25 Feb 1825, Knox Co TN, d. 19 May 1924, TN, bur. Jett Cemetary TN, (the son of Andrew McHaffie b. PA of Knox Co. TN and his wife Catherine Harless), m. Mary J. Jett 24 Sep 1846 in TN. William F. and brother Calvin received part of their father's plantation and their mother lived with them after Andrew's death, according to Gerald McHaffie of Springfield, MO, and Nina H. (McHaffie) Todd, of Bruner, MO, who base their information on years of intensive study and correspondence. Mrs. Ralph (Barbara McHaffie) Aiken of Greenville, SC, is researching these families, particularly John L. McHaffie b. cir. 1850, Knox Co., TN, and d. Knox Co., TN. Her grandfather was Ferin McHaffie. Mrs. M. J. McHaffie is mentioned as relative in obituary of Mr. Ferin Hazel McHaffie, Knox Co. TN. Compare names in list of miscellaneous Knox Co. TN land transactions, 1800s, which are clustered under John McHaffie d. 1828 listing. In my opinion Mary Jane is likely the dau of John Jett and wife Elizabeth Con, married in same area, 1800s, and Mary Jane has close ties to John McHaffie b. cir. 1850, to John's sister Pearl McHaffie, and to Elizabeth McHaffie and Stansberry and McGlothen families. William F. McHaffie, with Mary and Jane sold 2 tracts of land in 20th district, Knox Co., TN on 29 Mar 1893 to William and Nancy McFee; filed 24 Feb 1894. William F.
