Note: Elmer was a master mechanic. At the time of his death, he was working as a skilled machinist at the U.S. Naval torpedo station in Newport, Rhode Island. During the last few years of his life, Elmer owned and lived on the property at 98 North Post Road (later 4565 Post Road) in Warwick, Rhode Island. The three-story New England home, originally built by Thomas Rhodes according to a family note, stayed in the family until his daughter Ethel's death in 1959, when it was inherited by Thomas P. McCune, Jr. The latter sold it shortly thereafter, whereupon it soon was remodeled for use as an office building.
