BIOGRAPHY: Azilda was a wonderful cook, and had been employed by aprominent family as a cook in their household. She taught Frances, herdaughter-in-law, many things.
Frances and Arthur lived in Azilda's home after they married. Later,they built a house on Second Street, behind Azilda's home on RandallStreet.
Frances's own mother had died when she was eleven, and she had beenvery attached to her mother. She did not feel comfortable calling Azilda"Mom", so chose Lady as the term of endearment for her mother-in-law.
Azilda was a very cheerful and warm hearted person. Frances was veryfond of her, and was always well treated by her. When living in Azilda'shome, Frances remembers Azilda coming up to their quarters upstairs toplay cards. They always enjoyed those times together.
After Arthur E.'s death, the children contributed money towardstheir mother's support. After she died, Everett brought a small amountof money to Frances and Arthur, and said it was their inheritance fromAzilda. She had saved some of the money her children gave her, andwilled it to them at her death. They were very touched by this gesture.
