Note: Her birthplace entered in the New York City Register of Births for 1861 is 44 Third Avenue which is the same address listed in the 1861 and 1862 New York City Directories for her maternal grandfather, Joseph A. Baudau. Her parents appear in the 1860 US Census for Rahway, NJ and in subsequent NJ and US Censuses from 1865 through 1915 for Linden, NJ. It is believed that the family's residence was in New Jersey at the time of her birth. Caroline appears with her family in the 1865 NJ and 1870 US Censuses. She is not listed among members of the household on the 1880 US Census but "Carrie Ramsey" of correct age appears as a servant for a family in Rahway, NJ. Because of the proximity of the locations and the fact that her surname was often confused with "Ramsey", that she was often called "Carrie", and that the listed age is proper leads one to conclude that this census entry accounts for her whereabouts in 1880. Documentation shows her residence as Linden, NJ at the time of her marriage in 1889. Following her marriage, she lived in Cranford, New Jersey for the remainder of her life. After her husband's death in 1932, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Edith and George Ward. She died of hypostatic pneumonia, a complication resulting from a fractured left hip, at the age of eighty nine years and seven months.
