a. Note:   1. Lucinda's first husband, Stephen Strode, died after the 1840 censusand some time before 10 OCT 1840, when letters of administration weregranted for his estate.
  2. I have a copy of the marriage bond for Lucinda's first marriage,and a copy of the marriage in the marriage register. The marriagebond is dated 13 JAN 1824. I have a copy of both her 2nd and 3rdmarriage records. Per Peter Schlup, whose email is oldhundreth@@c-magic.com,Lucinda and her second husband, John Grimes, were divorced, and thedivorce records state they had a daughter, whose name is not mentioned.The daughter cannot be located in the 1850 census, but in the 1860census a woman named Melvina Grimes, age 18, is living with Lucinda,thus Melvina is probably Lucinda's daughter by her second marriage.After the 1860 census, no more trace can be found of Melvina. Anymore information about Melvina would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Lucinda's birth date is an estimate. She is age 43 in the 1850census, age 55 in the 1860 census, age 64 in the 1870 census, andage 71 in the 1880 census. She is living with her son John N. Strode in the 1880 census in Washington Township, Clay County, MO.
  4. Lucinda's death date is listed in one source as 11 NOV 1881, as taken from "Strode and Stroud Families in England and America Volume III," Page 51, by James Strode Elston. Per Peter Schlup, however,Lucinda was still living on 5 JAN 1882, for on this date she soldland to her son, John Strode. I assume Lucinda died in Clay County,MO. Lucinda is not listed in the death records for Clay County for1883 and 1884. I also do not know where she is buried. All 5 ofher siblings and her parents are buried in the Winchester Cemeteryin Winchester, Clark County, KY. Any supporting evidence for herdeath date would be greatly appreciated.
