b. Note:   <b>THE PERTH COURIER 1943 </b>The death occurred suddenly Friday morning, May 21 of an aged ad highly respected resident of Clayton, in the person of John Sweeney. He was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Timothy Sweeney and was born in Darling 80 years ago. He was married to Elizabeth Wark and they settled on a farm. Six years ago they they moved to the village of Clayton and since coming here have made many friends. Mr. Sweeney was of a quiet disposition, very fond of his home and family. A very sad feature is that Mrs. Sweeney is very ill and the sympathy of the community is extended to her the family in their sad bereavement. He is survived by his widow and seven sons; James of Kingston; John of Detroit; Earl of Ramsay; Pte. Stewart overseas; George at home; Timothy and Dan in northern Ontario; five daughters (Agnes) Mrs. W. James, Transcona, Man.; (Mary) Mrs. W. Easton, Peterboro; (Maggie) Mrs. Herb. James of Ramsay; (Martha) Mrs. Albert Mitchell of Middleville and Dorothy, at home. He is also survived by one brother, Edward, of Perth. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon from his late home to the United Church, where service was conducted by Rev. W. J. Scottand Rev. D. F. Weegar and interment was made in United Cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. Harold Flegg, George Pretty, A. W. Nolan, Adam Stewart, Powell Belamy and Geo. Bolger.
