 Brown, Lawson L (Brownie)
 Age 87 of Breesport Rd, Horseheaads, and formerly of Pine Valley, passed away Oct 8, 2007, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Brownie was born in the town of Urbanain Steuben County on Nov 18, 1919, son to the late Ray and Edith (Westcott) Brown. Brownie was predeceased by his first wife, Maria (Nickerson) Brown 2002, and survived by his wife , Marian Farrell also of Horseheads. In addition to his wife, Marian Lawson is survived by his children , daughter Nina (Walter) Kilgusof Angleton, TX; sons, Thomas L. (catherine) Brown and Ray R (Judith) Brown both of Elmira; his wife, Marian's children, Joe (Judith) Page of Breesport, NY, Betty Rougeux of Boiceville, NY, Bonnie Snyder of Hartford, CT, John (Vicki) Page, So, MI, James Page of Franklin, NJ, all with their families, as well as predeceased, stepdaughter, Patricis Bodolato; grandchildren Dianne, Walter II, Laura, Regina, Christopher, Steven, and Stacie, Genevieve Reese of Hammondsport, NY; sister-in-law Mary Brown of Elmira; several great grand children; several nieces and nephews, including Theresa Kieffer, and many close and caring friends and neighbors. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Helen Eastwood, Thelma Brown, and brother, Raymond Brown.Brownie was a retired maintenance techine with the former Thatcher Glass in Elmira. He was a Staff Sergeant and veteran of the US Army, serving with the 2nd Battalion, 317 Infantry. Lawson was an over 3 30 member and past commander of the Elmira Heights American Legion Post # 154, member of the Masonic War Vets and also a former member of the Chemung County Color Guard. Brownie was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and friend. Active with both the Masonic and York Rite Bodies, Lawson was a member and past master of Southern Light Lodge #725, F. & A.M. in Breesport, NY. He was head of all York Rite Bodies, including Past High Priest of Horseheads Chapter #261 and Past Illustrious Master of the Southern Tier Council #16, Past Commander St Omer's #19 KT Commandery, holder of York Rite Cross of Honor, Order of the Purple Cross ans Past Governor of York Rite College #126, member and past patron of Eastern Star O.E.S. Southern Light Chapter #460also in Breesport, NY. Brownie was also a longtime member of the Pine Valley United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St, Horseheads. Today, Wed, Oct 10, 2007,from 4 - 6:30 pm. Family and friends are further invited to call on Thursday, Oct 11' 2007 from 11:00 am - 12 noonwith Rev Deb Roe officiating. Private internment, Military Honors, will take placein Maple Grove Cemetery. NOTICE: Officers of and members of Southern Light Lodge #725 F. & A.M.will gather at the Barber Funeral Home , Horsheads tonight, Oct 10 at 10 p.m. to conduct a service for their departed brother.
