a. Note:   Tonjes reported having been born in Wolsey, Beadle County, SD. During World War II he needed birth records but none were found. The court in Crow Wing County, Minn. issued a birth certificate based on his reported place of birth and supporting information.
  Following the death of Katherine Johnson, Alden Chapin and Tonjes Chapin signed an affidavit stating their claim to the estate of Katherine. Alden reported being Katherine's husband. Tonjes reported being the son of Katherine and Alden. The document is in the records of Cass County, Minn.
