a. Note:   William was a fisherman from Georgetown, Victoria, and he must have known Frances SHERLOCK in Tasmania, possibly as result of his journeys across Bass Strait on fishing "trips, it is also known that in 1839 William purchased a block of land adjoining the "White Hart Inn in Georgetown, Tasmania for the sum of 100 Pounds from Samuel SHERLOCK. The block adjoined the White Hart Inn (Hotel) which Samuel apparently owned, the White Hart Inn was and may still be situated in McQuarie Street, George Town, Tasmania, (between Goulburn and Sorrell Streets). Apparently two months after Samuel SHERLOCK with the majority of his children moved from Victoria from Tasmania after Mary Ann SHERLOCK (nee: FRENCH) passed away and it was here in Victoria that William and Frances were wed.

Note:   marriage registration is shown in the NSW marriage register as well as the Victorian mariage register; V1841834 25C/1841 WIGNELL William married SHERLOCK Frances F registered: ME, (ME stand for Melbourne), Frances was 17yrs old at time she and William were married. Vic Pioneer Index 1836-88 no: 4428 Francis French SHERLOCK married to William WIGNELL is also shows Frances as having her mother Mary Ann's maiden name FRENCH as her own middle given name, this would appear to be the first document that has been discovered to date showing Frances as having a second given name?, we know FRENCH was Mary Ann's maiden name so it's would not be hard to see how records may have been incorrectly entered or transcribed but for the fact that the NSW registration also show a second name even if only "F'" not "French" ?, perhaps because of space restrictions ?. is NOT responsible for the content of the GEDCOMs uploaded through the WorldConnect Program.
