Notes
a. Note:   Obituary: DEATH OF SARAH KING Mrs. Sarah A. King, wife of John King, died at the family residence in Madison township early Sunday morning, aged 73 years. No tongue can utter nor pen describe the afflictions which were so patiently borne by this woman. A few years ago she took treatment for cancer, which no doubt shocked her nervous system and helped to make her a victim of nervous prostration. Weakened by these dread diseases, she suffered a severe attack of the flux and at about the same time an uncontrollable hiccup set in, which ended her life and removed her from earth. Through all this bodily pain, she never forgot to trust in the blessed master and to believe in the comforting promise of his holy word. Sarah Hurdle was the daughter of Leonard Hurdle and was born and raised in Madison township. After reaching womanhood she was married to John King and became his affectionate and comforting companion until her death. She was a good mother, an obliging neighbor and an honest, upright woman. She was a member of the Prospect M. P. church and her daily walk showed her to be sincere in her profession of the Christian religion. Besides the grief stricken husband, her death is mourned by a son and two daughters; Fleetwood H. King, county recorder of Zanesville, Mrs. L. Q. Thomas, of Zanesville, and Miss Martha King who is at home and took such commendable care of her mother through her long illness. Funeral services will be conducted this Tuesday afternoon by Rev. S. T. Allen at the Prospect M. P. church and the remains buried in the cemetery at that place. (ed: death occurred 5 Aug 1900) Appeared in the Adamsville Register, 7 Aug 1900
